Green bonds are designated bonds intended to encourage sustainability and to support climate-related or other types of special environmental projects. More specifically, green bonds finance projects aimed at energy efficiency, pollution prevention, sustainable agriculture, fishery and forestry, the protection of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, clean transportation, clean water, and sustainable water management. Green issuances reached a record $266.5 billion in 2019, and nearly $270 billion the following year
In our coming open meeting we will discuss the increasing trend of green bond issuance globally, its funding sources, volume, and uses. We will explore the Israeli case vis a vis other similar-sized economies.
